“It’s highly appraised when the hell is raised
So demanding and commanding that you all stand dazed
The unbelieving receiving prophecy so true
I cut the head off the Devil and I throw it at you
My mighty mic control, already brought his soul
The rock king is so bold when he rocks and roll

2 Legit for Net-Radio

I am still tweaking the artwork and my style for the comic but I had a good idea for a comic, so I present: 2 Legit for Net-Radio

First: Internet Radio

Recently Internet radio has been under pressure to pay royalties for the music they play. These royalties are not just for when legislation is in-place but net radio stations can be charged for music they played as far back as 2006. In protest to the “outrageous rates” being charged many Internet radio stations went silent on July 26, 2007.

Second: MC Hammer

I got the idea for the comic while reading about the day of silence on Yahoo! Music. Since I still have not found the total niche for the webcomic, either art or content, I wanted to add some humor. Whats more funny than MC Hammer’s rise, fall, and then attempt at renaming himself in a more Gangsta image minus the “MC”. Nothing right.. well kinda. Whats funnier than Hammer’s Gangsta image was the banned video for Pumps and a Bump which featured Hammer rocking the Banana Hammock. Hammer then remade the video without him in a Speedo trying to reinforce his gangsta image since MTV would not play the original deeming that Hammer in a speedo was too graphic.

Not Gangsta:

Hammer’s Banned Speedo Video

Still not, but more Gangsta:

Hammer’s attempt to make the song and video more Gangsta

99 Mooninites - The Song

The now playing button has been updated with a remake of Nena’s 80’s cult hit 99 Luftballons relating it to the Boston Mooninites Terrorist Scare.

Here are the lyrics from the author derspatchel livejournal:

You and I in our little workshop
Making LED lights from the money we got
Hanging glowies before dawn
Til one by one, they’re all done
Three weeks later, MBTA subway
Worker sees one, he goes “Oh hey,
Better call the bomb squad by
Cause ninety-nine Mooninites have arrived”

Ninety-nine Mooninites
Hanging from the overpass
With their middle fingers high
As if to say “Hub, kiss my ass”
Here’s Ignignokt, that one’s Err
But Boston does not know for sure
The Aqua Teens are advertised
By ninety-nine Mooninites in the sky

Ninety-nine cops on the scene
Can’t believe what they’ve just seen
There’s batteries and wires, too
And no one knows just what to do
They look explosive, clench your fists
They must be from terrorists!
We better blast them to the sky
Cause ninety-nine Mooninites must die

Ninety-nine white vans arrive
All with TV crews inside
Everyone’s a news reporter
Everyone’s a Chet or Nat
Breathlessly they cause a panic
Are these bombs or just Satanic?
Suddenly the bloggers cry
“Wait a minute, those are Mooninites!”

Ninety-nine lulz we have had
And all because of Pete and Sean
It’s all over, but Menino’s mumbling
Words like “hoax” to hide his bumbling
Folks are selling souvenirs
To commemorate our Day of Fear
And here is a Mooninite
I check eBay and make my bid…

The lyrics are sung by judela

Download the mp3 here.

Many Boston Mooninite related videos (including real news footage) can be found here at Youtube.

Now Playing Deltron 3030 & SpaceBooger

The Now Playing Button (on the right) has been updated with a song by Del Tha Funkee Homosapien’s alter-ego Deltron Zero.

Positive Contact is from the Deltron 3030 album, one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s futuristic tone and space theme is the perfect fit for the start of the SpaceBooger webcomic.

Info from Wikipedia:

Deltron 3030 is a super-group of hip hop artists, composed primarily of producer Dan the Automator, rapper Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and DJ Kid Koala, though their work features many other artists as well, all taking on various futuristic pseudonyms. Their debut CD Deltron 3030 is a concept album set in the year 3030 that tells of Del’s alter ego, Deltron Zero, fight against huge corporations that rule the universe. The album is a landmark in the acid rap genre. The lyrics are characterized by extravagant allusions to futuristic outer-space cliches and astronomy.

Positive Contact Lyrics by Del tha Funkee Homosapien

Transmutation, brand new statements
I’ll have you gapin, open
Check it out y’all
Now let’s see — Deltron Z
Art avenger, let’s start the adventure
Hit ya with nerve gas, absurd blasts
Crashin space craft, I’m bio-enhanced
Hiero advanced series, monstrous evolution
Headed, tooth and nail, scoop the trail
Super-sleuth, a new race
Mad creator, savage nature
World Wide Web, the ebb and flow
Light years from watchful eyes while my thoughts provide
objectives to ostracize the pompous prophecies
Underground societies are hard to lead
Asteroid surfing, castor-oil burping
The darkest side of humanity animated
The grand awakening, plan to take it in
I demand your patronage, mobilize my battletanks
With clusters small, NTR’s to empty Mars
Many MC’s cruise low earth orbit
Easier for me to use my search warrant
Drift by a star, absorb it, and store it
Leave tourists pourous, my galaxy’s gorgeous
Quantum jump - I’m right at your doorstep

Site update: Set it Off

Ok as promised last weekend I updated the code to the site (Wordpress update, cleaned up the code, resized the content area)

But I was unsuccessful at creating a media player for the now playing section, so for now I will continue to use the “Wimpy Button”.

So here is the last Friday’s Funky Friday Song, which was actualy posted up on Friday - HA!

Big Daddy Kane’s Set It Off
Why Kane?  Because back in the day, hell even now, I am amazed at his Freestyle tracks.  Kane was one of the first freestyle tracks I could play over and over again - Impressive, plus his lyrics come at you hard:

Go with the flow, my rhymes grow like an afro
I entertain again and Kane'll never have no
Problem, I can sneeze, sniffle and cough
E-e-e-even if I stutter Imma still come off
Cos rappers can't understand the mics I rip
They sure enough ain't equipped, that's why they got flipped
But my apparatus is up to status
Don't ask who's the baddest, of course that is
The maker, breaker, taker, my rhymes ache the head
Put it to bed, so watch what is said
Save the bass for the pipe and rearrange your tone
Or take a loss and be forced in the danger zone
Cos I get ill and kill at will
Teachin a skill that's real, you're no frill
So just stand still and chill as I build
Science I drill until my rhymes fill
Your head up...don't even get up
The teacher is teachin', so just shut up

Funky Friday: Whats Up Doc?

This week’s Funky Friday update… yeah I know its Saturday

This weeks now playing song was choose to coincide with Shaq taking the Miami Heat to the NBA finals for the first time with his first ever Hip-Hop appearance.

So I present to you:
The Fu-Schnickens: “What’s Up Doc? (Can We Rock)” (1993) featuring Shaquille O’Neal

Shaq-Fu[Shaq]
I’m the hooper, the hyper
Protected by Viper
When I rock the hoop yo, you’d better decipher
In other words you’d better make a funky decision (whoo)
’cause I’m a be a Shaq knife, and cut you with precision
Forget Tony Danza, I’m the boss
When it comes to money, I’m like Dick Butkas
Now who’s the first pick? me, word is born and
Not a Christean Laettner, not Alonzo Mourning
That’s okay, not being bragadocious
Supercalifragelistic, Shaq is alidocious
Peace, I gotta go, I ain’t no joke
Now I slam it (what?) jam it (unh)
And make sure it’s broke

I myself loved the Fu-Schnickens I bought their first album when it came out and even enjoyed them on this song released almost a year earlier than the second album. I did have to laugh at Shaq’s lyrics though… his lyrics did match the Fu-Schnickens’ style but seeing a big man like Shaq, it made me chuckle.

So click the now playing button at the top of the menu and listen

(if you are still seeing last week’s song listed do a “shift refresh” and all will be good)

Nice N Smooth – Hip-Hop Junkies: Funky Friday

Ok I’m going to try something new… a consistat weekly post.
Every Friday I will post up an interesting Hip-Hop quote and change the “Now Playing” to match for the week… so without delay our first Funky Friday post:

Nice N Smooth – Hip-Hop Junkies

Pete’s rickety rocket was my favorite cartoon
After marriage the honeymoon
I’ll be damn gag me with a spoon
Who loves Popeye, Alice the goon
Ladies let your body flow
Send a chill up your spine like an eskimo
Here’s a backstage pass to a funky show
Come give me a kiss under the missle toe
Greg Nice, my lifes like a fairy tale
Orca, was a great big whale
I knew a fat girl who broke the scale
You won’t tell, I won’t tell
Clientele I must excel
Took a little test, I passed then failed
Breaks… HUH, no need to hit’em
Skins, ya got ‘em - I wanna get wit ‘em!

Greg Nice is one of the most lyricaly talented artists ever… damn he should have stayed the “Human Beatbox” and never started Rapping.
Anyway, I purchased this album back in the day, and if memory serves correctly the Orca part was the only line that seemed off to me back then… don’t ask me what I was thinking.

Note: You may need to do a “Shift Refresh” if the old now playing title is still showing.
