WebComic: Fly Balls

Yeah, I know it was a low blow…

After hearing all of the baseball coaches talking about humorous yet painful injuries at lunch on Tuesday, I knew I had to put it into the comic strip.

Check out this week’s baseball (kinda) themed comic strip here: http://www.spacebooger.com/index.php?comicID=143

WebComic: Quote

In last week’s comic strip I said Keith Apicary was  ”like the Booger, he thinks very highly of himself.”

For this week’s strip I thought I would continue the “thinks very highly of himself” idea.

I also decided continue to showcase the intelligence of BarryFly by quoting Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the author of the famous play Faust.

WebComic: Bomberman feat. Keith Apicary

This week’s comic strip features the Classic Video Game Master – Keith Apicary!

Keith Apicary is the star of the Talking Classics documentary, and like the Booger he love classic video games. Also like the Booger, he thinks very highly of himself and his video game ability.

Keith, master of all things video games, shows up on the Booger’s ship and showcases his video game knowledge by figuring out that the Booger is really Bomberman in disguise…

…Unfortunately, Mr. Apicary is wrong. Just don’t try telling him that.

Comic Book fans may remember Keith from Comic Con 2009 as the dude who stormed on stage during the Peter Jackson panel to get a drink.

Anyway big props to Nathan Barnatt, the creator of Keith Apicary for allowing his character to make a cameo on the SpaceBooger comic strip! Make sure you are are the lookout for him to possibly guest script an upcoming comic strip featuring Keith again.

Check out the comic strip here: http://www.spacebooger.com/index.php?comicID=141

WebComic:Legs

Fact: I have only drawn BarryFly from the waist up.

I have never drawn his legs or feet… I don’t even know if he has them being a mutated ButterFly on Steroids and all. It makes sense that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have arms and legs since unmutated turtles do, but Barry is a butterfly/moth.

So what do you think? Since BarryFly has legs then he should have legs right? And if he has legs then what do they look like?
Tell me what you think in the forums.

Check out this week’s strip that feature, but do not really feature, BarryFly’s legs: http://www.spacebooger.com/index.php?comicID=139

WebComic: Six More Weeks

I know that yesterday was Groundhog Day, but according to the movie when the clock read 6am it was still Groundhog Day. So, technically the strip is not a day behind.

Anyway, check out the comic strip here: http://www.spacebooger.com/index.php?comicID=138

WebComic: Assistance

Being in high school and college in the 1990’s influenced the SpaceBooger webcomic. Barry Fly, a “butterfly on steroids,” was designed with extra large unrealistic proportions just like the characters in the comics of that era. His name is based on Barry Bonds is a baseball player associated with steroids, and in the 90’s the national pastime was dominated by the steroid sluggers. The steroid era was most prominently protracted by Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire’s battle for the HR record in 1998.

A couple weeks ago Mark McGwire was back in the news now that he is the St. Louis Cardinals newest addition to the coaching staff. There was no way that I could pass up a chance to feature Barry Fly in a comic strip based on the news, unfortunately I had to wait a couple weeks because of the celebration of the strips third birthday.

Check out this week’s comic strip here: http://www.spacebooger.com/index.php?comicID=137

And while you are at it check out this other Barry Fly and Steroid related comic strip: http://www.spacebooger.com/index.php?comicID=105

Happy Third Birthday to the SpaceBooger WebComic!

I can’t believe that I have been doing this webcomic for three years…

The Booger's first appearance 1-17-07
On January 17, 2007 the world (wide web) got to see the Booger and his supporting cast for the first time. The concept for SpaceBooger the webcomic is simple: A boy, a Booger, a Butterfly on steroids, and the Missing Piece of Pac-Man are all trapped on a broken down spaceship floating in space with nothing but the internet and pop culture to entertain them.

As I look back at the comic strip, I laugh. I am not laughing because the strip is funny, I laugh instead because of how different it is today from three years ago. I guess the same could be said about this site. In 2001, this site started out  as a simple guestbook to debate who was better; Batman or Spider-Man. After that debate got old, I gave up on the whole “batorspider.com” site and in 2004 transformed it into my own blog – www.spacebooger.com. But it would take three years of planning and procrastination before the comic strip would first be published.

When I started this site, I didn’t I originally plan on creating a comic strip. Instead I wanted to make a flash based comic book version of  “The Recreant,” but after realizing that I didn’t know too much about creating stuff in flash, decided to make a comic strip instead. In 2007, three years after coming up with the idea, I finally created the SpceBooger comic strip.

Happy Birthday Booger!

WebComic: Prelude to Year 3

Sunday marks the SpaceBooger Comic Strip’s 3 year birthday…

I’ll pause until the cheering and applause to stop.

Like the two birthday’s before it, this birthday will feature a parody of popular culture while telling the origin of one or more of the comic strips’ characters.

Can you figure out what we will be “spoofing” this year?
Come’on it’s easy.

This week’s comic strip is nothing more but an intro, or prelude, to the birthday bash so please check it out here: http://www.spacebooger.com/index.php?comicID=135

And while you are at it check out the previous birthday comics:

WebComic: Deep Pockets

Its funny that today’s post deals with a video game and tomorrow I will be starting a new feature here that focuses on comic books and video games.

In high school and in college I was addicted to the point-n-click adventure games. My friend’s dad showed me Maniac Mansion and I loved it. I immediately began buying and beating every Sierra and Lucas Arts adventure games like: Zach McCracken, the Quest for Glory series, the Space Quest series, the Indiana Jones series, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit the Road, and the Leisuresuit Larry series.

Last year someone over at RacketBoy recommended a new game that looks and feels just like the classic point-n-click games: Ben There, Dan That! I bought the game and it’s sequel for $5. That $5 was well spent, but you can get the game for free from the creator’s website:

‘Ben There, Dan That!’ is a knockabout point-and-click comedy game, in the vein of the old classic Lucasarts adventures like ‘Guybrush Threepwood’s The Monkey Islands’ or ‘Sam and Max, Freelance Policemen’.

Written by and somewhat-narcissistically starring heroes Dan Marshall and Ben Ward, it’s bursting with bold cartoon graphics, laugh-out-loud dialogue, colourful characters, some frames of animation and nearly 100 different sound effects!

There’s no need for hand-eye coordination or split-second reflexes here; it’s a fun game that anyone can play as long as they don’t mind a few naughty words here and there and the odd dabble of mild racism.

Enjoy it today FOR FREE by clicking the download button (link)

Download and play “Ben There, Dan That!” immediately and don’t forget to check out the SpaceBooger comic strip!
