Last night we opted out of watching fireworks to watch a predicted bomb. Little did we know this little dud was the exact opposite.
Transformers, not to be mixed up with the ’80’s animated “Transformers the Movie“, was quite good. When I first heard that this movie was going to be released I was ecstatic, until some of the Autobot designers were posted on the net. I started to get used to designers, but after watching the bombs that were this summer/spring’s comic based movies I was giving this movie no hope.
To make this post shorter here are some good and bad points from the movie, according to me:
- The Transformations were quite believable, and less CGI looking than Spider-Man 3
- The old cartoon noise was included with the first transformation of the movie
- The organic look made for a great movie, even though when the images were first released I disapproved. I have to slightly defend the organic look because thats how they looked on Cybertron in the cartoon and in other generation cartoons.
- The reason for coming, and even staying on Earth was the same as the cartoon… I wish they would have kept the name “Energon Cube” instead of “All Spark”
Separated at Birth!

- Bumblebee was awesome and quite likable. Not since Johnny 5 have I cared for a robotic creature - seriously if this was a chick flick I would have cried.
- For all who complain about the people in this movie saying that it should have been all robots as main characters… shut up. The people were corny, their scenes were cliché, and most were there to be the comic sidekick but it was all necessary. At the end of the movie during the crazy robot battles you see that the Autobots care about the humans in the same manner that I cared about Bumblebee. Humans in this movie were supposed to look silly and weak compared to the Transformers, except the few who stand up against the Decepticons… it gave meaning to the whole aspect of humans are worthy of saving.
- All the Transformers had masks… yeah masks. For example when not in battle Optimus Prime had a nose and moving mouth, but during battle a shield came up in-front of his nose and mouth resembling the ’80s cartoon. see image below
- Lastly, Optimus Prime having Peter Cullen’s voice. WOW!

The action was BIG, and so was the smile on this fanboy’s face.
Go see this movie. Like Prime said in both the cartoon and movie: “Autobots roll out!”
