Amazing Spider-Man #680

5 Word Review: Octobot Zombies on Hershel’s Farm?
Story: Dan Slott & Chris Yost
Art: Giuseppe Camuncoli & Klaus Janson

For the last couple issues I have been complaining that the Doctor Octopus and Sinister Six storyline was sitting on the back burner for too long. It looks like I finally got my wish.

I don’t know if it’s a case of “the grass is always greener” but this story, even though it focused on the story I have been craving, seemed a little lack luster. While it was cool to see the newly resurrected Human Torch team-up with Spider-Man again, the only story advancement was that Doc Ock took over a satellite and his little octobots can control both machinery and people.

The premise of this book was good, I was just expecting a little more. I did find it quite funny to see a comic that featured “Octobot Zombies” would reference a zombie television show based on a rival company’s comic:

Justice League #6

5 Word Review: Now That Was A Fight!
Story: Geoff Johns
Art: Jim Lee & Scott Williams

Wow this book was great. This book was everything I expected from a comic book, especially one featuring the biggest and best of the DCU.

As good as it was, however, the book was not without its faults. The payoff was awesome, but unfortunately it took three issues too long. In this one issue we saw the full fight against Darkseid, was told his whole plan, and witnessed the heroes each use their individual strengths as a team. If you can ignore the forced humor at the end, this book was great. I hope that the future stories will be more streamlined and take less issues, especially since the two other storylines teased at the end of the book look great. I hope that I don’t have to wait eight or more months to read two more stories.

I’m really hoping now that the forced reintroduction and formation of the is now over the book will flow faster and smoother, just like this issue, because if it does this could easily be the book DC wants it to be.
