With all of the rain recently, I started to reread the new Batman’s first solo comics in the “Nightwing: A Knight in Bludhaven” trade. After reading the first story arc, issues #1-3, I realized now that Nightwing is Batman the writers are doing a nice job keeping the character a Dick Grayson (a.k.a. Nightwing) not Bruce Wayne style Batman.
Here are a couple scans from the first three issues of Nightwing’s solo series and from the first three issues where he is Batman (Batman and Robin #1, Batman #688, and Batman: Streets of Gotham #1.):

The Black Mask is a major villain in Dick’s first adventure as both Nightwing and Batman.

Dick never thought the idea of Batman’s base of operation being on the outskirts of the big city was wise, so upon becoming Batman he moved it to the city.

Dick never wanted to become Batman. Because of their different fighting styles, acrobatic vs brute force, and personalities were different, Dick prefers not being in Bruce’s shadow and being his own hero.
I know there are more, but these are just some things I easily noticed when comparing Dick Grayson as Nightwing in 1996 and him as Batman 2009. I have to give credit to the current Batman creative staff because fans of both Nightwing and continuity are probably pleased with “Batman Reborn.”
